Live in a photograph
Live in a photograph?
I don't live in a photograph.
My curtains are out of date.
My carpets need cleaning.
My clutter is to die for.
My dust says "I keep".
If only I had a million bucks.
I would buy new furniture.
I would re-paint the walls.
I would buy zippy shades.
I would vaaazze cut flowers.
Alas, my humble abode is my castle.
Warts and all, it makes me relax.
Horizontal surfaces beg for more paper.
I fear Better Homes and Gardens.
The computer beckons.

The Golden Hour
The Golden Hour
The Golden Hour,
or two or three,
comes before dawn
on the feet of insomnia.
I can't sleep.
There are things
that need to be worried about,
and only I can do the job justice.
Words niggle.
Phrases nag.
A pen begs for attention.
Beds are for the lazy.
A glowing computer screen,
A cup of coffee, a dark room.
The best thoughts of my day
flow from the muse of my subconscious.
I close my eyes
and a world never seen
flows from my fingertips
and into cyberspace at times.
In the hours before the day intrudes,
My thoughts seem so fresh and original.
By ten o'clock, the best of my golden hour,
lies discarded on the floor of reality.
Those who sleep and those who dream,
Don't have time to waste.
The Golden Hour before dawn can gift one
with immortality.

Not a Poet
Not a Poet
I'm not a poet;
Don't I know it!
Need a little rhyme?
I don't have time.
Clever thoughts elude me;
Shakespeare, safe is he.
Never had a verse,
That could look worse.
Mine never seem to rhyme;
Mine don't stand the test of time.
Discard those lines,
Edgar Allen Poe whines.

Catharsis

I won't cry with you,
But I will laugh with you,
I can't agonize for you,
I'm too busy agonizing for me.
Empathy is saved for a few BFF.
If you need a therapist,
Get one,
Everyone will thank you.
Navel-gazing in public
Is very unattractive.
Catharsis is a meal
Best eaten alone.
